Things are mostly back to normal now. There are some small things the builders need to do (change some light fittings, partially re-tile some of the kitchen splashback, fit the door handles - so we can lock the door to the downstairs cloakroom, or rather, not trap ourselves in there as Mum did at the weekend...!). These should all be sorted this week. With the dishwasher being delivered on Friday, and the carpet man coming to measure up this week as well, we are nearly there.
There'll be more pictures soon, as we have unpacked most of our things now and it looks a little more homely.

sorry for the lack of updates - our broadband wasn't working properly when we moved back in, and then we were on holiday for a week.... anyway, here we go. These pictures were taken before we started unpacking all our boxes...

here's the back of the extension - you can see how the builders have copied the brickwork detailing under the eaves, from the original build.

We moved in successfully on 8th but the place is in a bit of a state, unpacked boxes everywhere! When we've tidied up a bit there'll be more pictures on the site of the house in its finished state...

Yes our moving in date is this Saturday. At last! We definitely have a flushing toilet so in theory there's nothing stopping us, nothing other than the days and days of cleaning that is. The water is connected, the painting has been done, the cooker has been installed, and it's just the finishing off now.

Another week with lots of progress.

The bathroom tiling is complete and the bath etc are being fitted.

The boiler installation has begun, but the new water supply hasn't been connected yet (see below for more details)...

The joiner has been fitting shelves in the alcoves in the living room/dining room (some of which has had the mist coat of paint too).

Work has started on fitting the kitchen and the new cooker should be delivered next week.

The downstairs cloakroom (the cheesedog's office?) is also making progress. All the pipes are for the underfloor heating.

Rate determining step now is getting the new water supply connected. Good old Thames Water eh? For £2K you get the benefit of being fobbed off by customer service and no communication on status of your order...

Our builders have made lots of progress over the last week. As you can see from the photos, the stairs are in

and the bathroom floor has been tiled.

The kitchen floor is now complete too - with the underfloor heating and concrete being finished late last week, the tiles went down on Friday.

This week the plumber will be in fitting the bathroom out and the kitchen fitting should start soon too... we may even be moved back into the house in 2 weeks, fingers crossed.

Latest pics from the weekend; the new (reclaimed) wooden floor in the living/dining room has been sanded and finished.

The tiling in the bathroom has started.

Today (Tuesday) the new staircase wil be installed - more pictures tomorrow.

hopefully this update will work and you can see the latest pictures taken over the last week... The plastering is finished in the kitchen and the glass is in. Next big job in here is the underfloor heating and then the screed and tiling.

The spare bedroom is getting the makeover treatment now... note the lovely wallpaper which we hope to save for posterity...

Yes after a few week's absence it appears that photos can now be added - so here they are, of week 12 (I think). The main build has been looking pretty much the same for the last 3 or 4 weeks now they have got the roof on - the last bit is adding the french windows and the custom pane of glass above them.
The bathroom has been plasterboarded and we no longer have any floorboards downstairs as the old ones have been removed to make way for the new ones.
We also have a big trench in the front garden with a bright blue plastic pipe in ready to connect up to the mains, when Thames Water get round to doing their bit that is...

Slates and plaster

Well, some of the slates are on the roof and they have skimmed the walls in the living room so it's starting to look slightly more normal in there now. We climbed up the scaffolding last Saturday (still no stairs) to get to the bedrooms and discovered that the old boiler has been removed from the spare room, and our sofas are now immensely dusty....

For some reason my laptop is not allowing me to post photos onto the site - we'll get there eventually!
